Beauty in Imperfection

A timed exercise forces each expression of a line to carry so much more information than a piece of art that has no time limit and is planned and perfected. The still-present erasures create movement in an image that may otherwise appear stagnant. The forced dash of time-constraints creates accidental elegance in the acceptance of what could not be anything else than imperfect. And yet: here, we find beauty.

While also a figure with loose movements, this completed oil painting portrays a dancer made of fire. The burning embers are present in the background.

This painting was disliked by my art professors, but is loved by my husband, so it shall have a place here for others to see.
